Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... This corresponds to the article on Spanish Wikiedpia es:Global (empresa de transporte). Spanish Wikipedia has better coverage of transport in Gran Canaria and I am trying to improve coverage of the topic on the English Wiki, and to avoid future red links.

The importance of Global is that is a major transport provider across the Island of Gran Canaria and a significant part of the infrastructure of the province of Las Palmas, and operates in conjunction with local authority, Autoridad Única del Transporte de Gran Canaria. The article is new, and definitely needs better citations, but it would be nice to be allowed time to research those. The article was marked for speedy deletion exactly 30 minutes after creation, which strikes me as an overzealous reaction to a new article clearly created in good faith. {{Notability}}, or at the very least {{Refimprove}}, would have been more appropriate reactions at this stage.

Wikipedia is already full of articles on bus companies - browse through Category:Bus operating companies of Europe by country or Category:Bus operators in England, so there is already precedent for covering transport operators. Are these significant? Are they all perfectly sourced? Should they all be deleted? I fail to see why Global should be singled out for deletion while, say, a random example such as Tanat Valley Coaches in rural England escapes deletion. Either delete them all, or allow appropriate coverage of transport companies. Cnbrb (talk) 11:38, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Cnbrb: Thanks for contribution to Wikipedia. It is important for you to know that they are guidelines with which we adhere to when it comes to creating articles. First may i ask if you are in anyway connected to the Global (Transport company)? We have a policy on Conflict of Interest.

You must also understand that i tagged the article because i couldn't find references to support it's notability, read WP:COMPANY currently your page doesn't meet that guideline including WP:RS. But if you feel i am wrong i would be happy to move your article to AFC to be reviewed by reviewers while you develop it. I hope this doesn't discourage you from editing. @PlotHelpful: Thanks for your concern. I don't know why you might think I work for a Spanish bus company, other than the fact that I created an article about one. So I am very happy to confirm that I have absolutely no commercial connection to Global. I am also happy to disclose that I once took a Global bus to get to the beach in 2018. Neither do I have commercial connection to the subjects of the many pages I have created in the past 13 years on Wikipedia. I am aware of the guidelines. I'm here to contribute, in good faith. @Cnbrb: I think it's best you move this one to draft and take it through AFC to be on the save side for you. I will remove CSD tag now. Happy editing. PlotHelpful (talk) 12:20, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Oh no... actually I really can't face subjecting myself to unnecessary Wikipedia processes - it's just a world of pain. I'll back down, and as a compromise, I'm switching this article to a redirect. Job done. Cnbrb (talk) 12:41, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
