John Carroll[edit]

A Latin quote given by the free preview of this paper shows that John Carroll was the first Roman Catholic of the thirteen States of North America.

The WP:notability concerns the relation betwenn U.S. and the Holy See about which he said: "our faith demands a subject to His Holiness incompatible with the independence of a sovereign state". He also stated a compromise with the temporal authority would be unavoidable, even if hateful for Rome (source: p. 178).Theologian81sp (talk) 19:03, 10 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
