Untitled[edit]

This is a page for my father, [George N. Pappas]. I believe it not to be spam whatsoever. I realize this is an attempt to minimize spam on your part and I totally fully respect that. I plan to update the page more in order to provide a better outline of his career and achievements. He was an extremely important member of the PBA and has held the title of President of the PBA for 2 years in his career. This page is of value and I plee that it be kept and updated to reflect such a outstanding althelete and respected professional bowler.

I mean, if slap chop can have it's own page. I think George N. Pappas deserves his own as well.

Thank you Wiki!

  • Yeah, but "slap chop" obviously does not have its own page; it's just a section in the Vince Offer article--but it is a section with eight references to reliable sources. An administrator has decided the article need not be deleted; if you had included the link to the Pappas bio on the PBA site his notability would have been much more clear early on. I've edited the article a bit and have removed the bowling alleys: that part is just way too promotional. Please note the format of Wikipedia entries and try to conform future additions to those guidelines. There is a template on your talk page with some helpful links. Happy editing. Thanks for all your help and reconsideration of the page and editing it's content to a more Wiki-Friendly format. I will do the best I can in the future to adhere with policy. Also, I wasn't trying too be over promotional by adding the websites to the page. Only to link out to a relevant place associated with George and his career. I also notice that Vince's page links out to slapchop.com and shamwow.com. Which are products he only marketed and did not create himself. Does wikipedia have a content-to-links ratio that I need to follow in order to display these links. I am sure you guys get a ton of marketing spam on here, which is why I am asking what the current policy is in order to provide external links such as these. Again, not trying to argue here, but I am having trouble seeing the difference between the two. Thanks again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chadzilla79 (talkcontribs) 05:42, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • The thing is, that dude with his cleaning rags has received a lot of coverage, and to the dude as well as the sites from which that stuff is sold have acquired notability. The language in which those sections are written would still have to be neutral and adhere to WP guidelines, of course, but yes, depending on the circumstances, those can be linked. Now, your dad's bowling alleys can be mentioned in the article, but a lot of it depends on the tone in which it is written. To start or improve any article, I prefer the old-fashioned route: find and collect reliable sources which discuss the subject, the put it together. Good luck, Drmies (talk) 21:40, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
