Ker was born on 26 February 1860 in Govan, Glasgow, Scotland and died on his 62nd birthday in New Yakima, which may be Yakima, Washington, USA.

He emigrated to the US in 1884, it's whether New Yakima became Yakima or is indeed somewhere else.
