Unsourced statement[edit]

Does anyone know of a source for the following claim?

After the war, subsequent commanding general and 18th President Ulysses S. Grant was asked for his opinion of McClellan as a general; he replied, "McClellan is to me one of the mysteries of the war."

If no, it should probably be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by High Leader (talkcontribs) 23:25, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Featured article review needed[edit]

Wizardman This Featured article was promoted in 2007, and has fallen out of FA standards. There is a good deal of uncited text, External links and Further reading should be cleaned up or incorporated into the article, and a MOS review is needed. Unless someone is willing/able to bring this article to standard, it should be submitted to Featured article review. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 20:14, 28 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'll FAR it sometime this weekend. It fell short of FA standards some time ago, I won't be able to fix it, and the other main writer retired some time ago. Wizardman 22:40, 28 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
There also seem to be some serious problems with NPOV. From reading the lead and the legacy section as well as a few other bits and pieces, the article is running the rather minority viewpoint that McClellan was a successful general who was wrongly dismissed. Virtually everything I've read on McClellan has judged he was a total failure as a battlefield commander and Lincoln should have sacked him much sooner. Hurontown, Michigan[edit]

Is street in Hurontown, Michigan named after him? --74.72.155.252 (talk) 22:44, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Should the short description be changed?[edit]

I don't know much about short descriptions, but is it not true that McClellan was most well known for being a Union general in the American Civil War, and shouldn't the description reflect that? Nonoesimposible (talk) 11:48, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
