Verifying information[edit]

I believe it would be good to verify information before deleting content. Information such as current name holders and schools attached to the name General Conference of the Evangelical Baptist Church, Inc. Deleting information not verified does the article no good. In fact what it does instead is mis represents General Conference of the Evangelical Baptist Church, Inc. all together. It should understood that verification can be supplied to this article if such a request is made. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.18.20.181 (talk) 07:44, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am trying to write to the persons who keep editing the data on the denomination, who say they are administrators of wikipedia, and continue to delete current information about the denomination and the references to it. The edited information is incorrect and not up to date and gives the general public wrong information. The original entry stated the current status of the denomination and the history behind it. Everything has been deleted except old information about the denomination from the 1960's. I am not sure what vandalism is and was wondering if novaseminary is a vandal? I have had no discussion with novaseminary to ask why the material about the denomination is so offensive as to delete most of the data and to leave only 1960 information and not what is currently happening with the denomination. Novaseminary began to edit the data without any valadation to the data and before I could make any links or new references the data was edited off again. I finally quit in the middle of the night. The reported me as starting edit wars when in fact it was them who would not communicate with me and just deleted my information as fast as I could publish it.174.18.20.181

I am not a vandal, and please note that I am just a regular editor, not an administrator. Another editor explained on your talk page how you should have proceded and you can read more by selecting the various wikilinks I am including in this response. (It would also be easier for everyone and less suspicious looking if you only edited from your one user account; that is, make sure you are logged in.) Please also note the "test" language on your talk page(s) is automatically put there when a new editor makes edits that are reverted and another editor uses a particular template (the least harsh template) to warn them and encourage them to read-up on how to properly edit. I didn't mean to offend. I was actually trying to be as gentle as possible. I am sorry for the confusion.
That said, the text I removed was copied from other places on the web and had other problems. I noted the reasons for my deletions in the edit summaries and there really isn't much debate that the text had to go (which is why the editor that blocked this IP address reverted it, too). I assume that you meant well, but the text was also not sourced or wikified and was essay like and somewhat non-neutral. You also obvioulsy have a conflcit of interest.
Please remember that nobody owns this article; it is not "yours" or the denomination's. None of us wants inaccurate information out there. That is why I went back to the most recent version without those problems. I would suggest that you delete anything actually inaccurate from the article ASAP. Then, I suggest that you propose new text here on the talk page so that folks without a COI can put it in the article if appropriate.
