Etymology

Note that the description of the origin of the term "gaffer" as "related to the moving of overhead equipment to control lighting levels using a gaff" is far from universally accepted. Other sources have indicated that the term comes from "godfather" or, less often, "grandfather". [1] [2] [3] Ericp-nh (talk) 15:02, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
