name change[edit]

she was styled as "princess grace of monaco" on both her foundation, run by her son website and the book she published in the 80s. is the name change really accurate here?--Bettydaisies (talk) 22:16, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Moved back[edit]

I moved the article back because the move was controversial but undiscussed. She was not known as Grace Kelly when the funeral occurred. I am at a loss to figure out how to move this talk page back. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 13:18, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: not moved. The only factor driving support for this move is consistency with the common name, and all the supporters have imposed this policy only. However, those who were in opposition have argued that her name was not the primary concern on her funeral, it was the the title of princess.   • Stong oppose Her name had not been Grace Kelly for a very long time when this event occurred. Main article has birth name as per WP convention. Not relevant to her funeral.   • Comment Technically, her style after her marriage would have been “Grace, Princess of Monaco”, as she was the wife of the reigning Prince, whereas the style “Princess {First Name} of Monaco” is for people born into the princely family, so the current title isn’t accurate. For what it's worth, the same source refers to her husband as "Prince Rainier III of Monaco", when technically his official style was "Rainier III, Prince of Monaco", as listed in his article title, so I'm not sure if they're using official styles or colloquialisms (i.e. in the same vein as referring to Diana, Princess of Wales as "Princess Diana"). 2601:249:9301:D570:C98C:4B83:3DD2:FF1D (talk) 20:28, 11 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see any sources referring to him as such? Albert II, Prince of Monaco's official title is HSH The Sovereign Prince of Monaco, but he can hardly be called that on Wikipedia without being differentiating from the other Sovereign PRince's of Monaco. I believe the numeral is used to distinguish Monaco's princes from other, non-reining princes.--Bettydaisies (talk) 07:10, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
On the Princess Grace Foundation-USA page (one of the sources used on her page to justify her being called "Princess Grace of Monaco", instead of "Grace, Princess of Monaco",) refers to him as "His Serene Highness Prince Rainier III of Monaco", which makes me wonder if they're speaking officially or colloquially, which impacts whether using the style "Prince(ss) X of Monaco" is correct over "X, Prince(ss) of Monaco". 2601:249:9301:D570:34B9:D115:6B6F:A06E (talk) 23:25, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
