Article style[edit]

Articles need to use neutral language and must not look like an advert. Accordingly, I have restored the previous version, but have also added the appropriate infobox. Any problems with the current text need to be explained on this talk page so they can be fixed. Examples of inappropriate language include "Fresh Choice exists to provide an appealing and healthy alternative...", "Fresh Choice believes...", "Consistent with its Farm-to-Fork mission...". Language like that belongs on the official website, not in an encyclopedic article. The following items could be added to the infobox: a logo and a slogan. Useful material[edit]

I have looked through the text added by Clarkkemp (this edit) and have extracted information that I believe could be used to develop the article. I have rephrased the text using neutral language.

  • Restaurants are in California, Washington, and Texas.
  • Menu offers home style soups, an extensive array of salads, freshly baked pizzas and breads.
  • Style is to provide healthy alternatives for standard fast food.
  • Nutritional information regarding ingredients is provided, including calorie count and whether the dish is low in sodium, gluten free, vegetarian etc.
  • Fresh Choice buys from local farmers and producers, striving to use seasonal, local and organically grown produce. Starting in 2009, the company has embarked on a plan to grow many of its own vegetables.
  • To protect the environment, the company uses the most energy-efficient lighting, heating, cooling and cooking equipment. Fresh Choice is enrolled in PG&E's Climate Smart Program, through which Fresh Choice makes voluntary, charitable contributions that fund greenhouse gas capture and reduction projects to make its Northern California restaurants' energy usage carbon neutral. ref http://www.pge.com/climatesmartfreshchoice/
  • The company sponsors and participates in events such as 2009 Earth Day in Sacramento, California International Marathon and health fairs. ref http://www.sacramentoearthday.net/?e=31
  • Fresh Choice has a school nutrition program known as Kid's Tours whereby classes of students tour the restaurant and receive information on nutrition and the food pyramid. Fresh Choice also sponsors a "Lettuce' Read Together" program, which rewards students who read five books.
  • The Sacramento Magazine 2008 Diners' Choice Awards voted Fresh Choice as the restaurant with the most health-conscious menu. ref http://www.sacmag.com/media/Sacramento-Magazine/August-2008/2008-Diners-Choice-Awards/

I do not have time to do more work on the article at the moment, but may return later. Johnuniq (talk) 00:50, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm starting to put this information into the article. At this point, if Clarkkemp wants continue to revert the article back to a "fact sheet", I think he should be discussing the changes here. NeoChaosX (talk, edits) 22:15, 10 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Good. In your version (current at 22:23, 10 January 2010), various points from the above have been incorporated, so I struck out the items dealt with. The remaining two points do not need to be included in the article, although if something more substantive (and sourced) were available it might be useful. If anyone feels like working out how to upload a logo we could incorporate it into the infobox. I would be happy if the "The company is owned..." paragraph were reworded: I'm receptive to ideas but currently can't see much value in the unsourced history. Is mentioning the bankruptcy in 2004 is warranted? Johnuniq (talk) 06:49, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Uploaded a logo image and added it to the article. As for the company history, I'm sure there's a few source out there over that verify some of the points. The bankruptcy is probably warranted - many other company articles mention financial difficulties in the company's history and as long as they were sourced, it was no problem.
