Title change?[edit]

I think the title of this page could be improved. Here are some of my suggestions:

1. List of French ships called Hercule

2. List of ships called Hercule (because I doubt there are e.g. Croatian ships called Hercule, and if there is it could be a good idea to merge pages)

3. Hercule (French ship)

4. Hercule (ship)

Does anyone have any suggestions? EvanTaylor1289 (talk) 17:52, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose any title change. This is one of a series of SI articles about French ships. Not Croatian ships or American ships. If you wish to create a page called List of ships called Hercule and link to this page, much like List of ships named Nautilus that has links to the respective German, British and American SI pages, go right ahead. No need to change the name of this article. Llammakey (talk) 19:32, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Comment I agree wholly with your argument having read it, but what about “Hercule (French ship)” or (because I think this should be clarified as a list) “List of French ships called/named Hercule”? EvanTaylor1289 (talk) 23:27, 27 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Your first suggestion is a non starter because you are now going from a page that doesn't need disambiguation to a page with a disambiguator. Your second suggestion would make the List of ships named Hercule irrelevant, because they could all be put on that page, and just eliminate the French bit. Please read WP:NCSHIPS that states that countries without a naval prefix will have article titles starting with "<country><ship type><name>" like "Algerian transport ****" or "Japanese destroyer ****". This is a set index article of all those articles seems like making work for no reason and would require you to change all similar pages. Good luck with that. On the basis of those arguments, I will once again oppose any title change. Llammakey (talk) 13:56, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
