Here we are - from 1982: "Fred Hando Seat. On 29th July an informal ceremony took place to dedicate the last in the series of "Fred Hando" seats. This seat is now in position near Keeper's Pond on the Blorenge, Blaenavon. It was built by the Manpower Services Commission under the direction of Gwent County Council, and thanks go to both these organisations. The other "Fred Hando" seats are to be found in Dixton Churchyard, Monmouth; at Llandegfedd Reservoir; on Lawrence Hill, Newport; and at the top of the Wyndcliff, near Chepstow. They were all bought and positioned using the funds raised by public subscription in memory of Fred Hando, the well-known Monmouthshire historian." Ghmyrtle (talk) 21:09, 12 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion and sfn[edit]

I'm giving Fred a bit of a once-over, and expanding it with what little material is available. Is there any objection to my converting the existing references to sfn? Pictorial guide to the Wye Valley and Royal Forest of Dean (1952)[edit]

Looking at my copy, the bit which puzzles me is that it lists Ernest Joyce as "Sole Distributors" but carries the imprint of S PUBLICATIONS (Copyright 1952) (the stylised "s" in an oval lozenge). It's exactly as the Google snippet shows it. Google gives me nothing on S Publications - or Ernest Joyce for that matter. I wonder if S Publications was an imprint of Ernest Joyce?
