I lk'd record with [[World record|record]], the closest i could see. Not a very good lk, but the best that Record suggests. Maybe some fans can do better, or create a suitable Baseball record or Major league record article to replace that lk with. IMO there's more than a dictdef worth saying, and those who know a non-sports sense of "record" may not bother consulting a dict in any case.

frank white, jr. Royals second baseman[edit]

If I am not mistaken, Frank White was offered a life-time contract at the same time as George Brett, Willie Wilson, and Dan Quisenberry. Frank's answer, unlike the other's was "as long as Mr K (Ewing Kauffman) is alive, just pay me what you think i am worth". This is probably notable as the last time anyone uttered those sentiments, regardless of the team or owner.

Kansas City lore has Frank White working as a teen-age mason's assistant, pouring concrete to BUILD Royal's stadium, when he came to the attention of Royal's management, and was invited to the "Royals training academy" (probably worthy of it's own listing, simply because of it's ability to produce infield coaches and base-stealing coaches).

I won't try to sort out the receivers, failed bids, consortiums, and etc that followed Mr. K's passing, but at some point, Frank retired. Next year, we were MORTIFIED that there was not a Frank White retirement acknowledgement. When George Brett was made Vice-president of figuring out why the fans hated the interim management, his first act was to institute a Frank White appreciation day. Frank, who i think at that time was a Boston Red Sox first-base coach, toured the stadium in his Red-Sox uniform, while I, at work, listened to my radio PEG OUT in static, my fellow fans going bananas on my behalf, while tears streamed down my face.

I know it's not what you're looking for as Wiki-input, but It's the truth, and I need help making it acceptable.---- Jim Webb, e-mail at samdefore@hotmail.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.151.32.107 (talk) 03:58, 11 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
