Notability: Kent was a nationally syndicated columnist and author of serious political history that is still cited in the bibliographies. There are scholarly articles about his career.

Kent's work is cited in current scholarship such as Theodore Rosenof. Realignment: the theory that changed the way we think about American politics‎ ; Gary Dean Best, Pride, prejudice, and politics; James Farr, Discipline and history: political science in the United States‎; and Bernard Crick, The American science of politics: its origins and conditions‎. John F Kennedy relied on Kent by name in his famous Profile in Courage
