I know information is scarce but I'm intrigued by the comment that the walls "reputedly" are dated from the middle of the 6th century, when the building itself is from the 11th century after the construction of the main Parish church.
I know it's believed that there's been a building there since then (or possibly even 5th, when Brelade was in the Channel Islands) but I didn't know that anything remains to pre-date the 11th century stone chapel there now? If there is, it should be made clearer.
I'll check up; it is somewhere in Rodwell's book on his excavations, it has to do with foundational aspects rather than main walls. I know he did some deep trenchwork on the site.
