Confused casual reviews[edit]

Final Fight 2 was met with a mixed critical reception. Associated Press's William Schiffmann noted Final Fight 2 did not have the amount of moves in Capcom's fighting game Street Fighter II, but the addition of a two-player mode was seen as an improvement over the SNES version of the original Final Fight. Schiffmann opined the music was average, but complimented the graphics, in particular the backgrounds.[1] A review by Matt Williamson of The Rocky Mountain News was far more negative, calling the game "representative of only the worst properties in a fighting game [sic]" and criticizing it for having "bleak locales, uninteresting characters, unchallenging gameplay" and adhering to the "walk to the right, tap the buttons" formula.[2]
