Illustration needed[edit]

It will be of great benefit to this article to have a map with the location of the Island of Ferro and the possible meridian drawn from it. -- 89.211.240.30, 29 August 2012‎, 00:44

Clarification needed[edit]

The article needs an explanation where the exact meridian was supposed to be located.
The description of the original idea (= all the known world lies east of the zero meridian) seems to favor some westernmost point of the island.
This image also seems to favor that interpretation, although the shape of the island is much different from modern maps.
Possibly a high peak on the island could have been chosen for surveying?
Not that it matters much in practice, considering the precision attainable at the time, and in particular the use of that precision to some ship's captain, but still, the scientists of the time surely had some ideal in mind.
