A lot of this information is FALSE. For example, Reita Faria never competed in Femina Miss India but in Eve's Weekly Miss India, a separate contest which ran from the 1950's up to the 1990's. There has also been a Star TV Miss India, a press-elected Miss India contest in the 1940's, 1950's and hence Femina Miss India does NOT equal Miss India. Major clean-up needed.

What is Miss India Universe and Miss India World? Isn't just Miss India?? --Rrjanbiah 13:16, 2 Aug 2004 (UTC)

The terminologies keep changing. They don't call it as winner, first runner-up and second runner-up anymore, rather as Miss India Universe, Miss India World, etc.. I plan to write a para on the terminologies. Jay 18:18, 2 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Miss India, etc. are not honors for service to the country. Alren 18:15, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Article says : Nikita Anand (became the first to break a long streak of consecutive placings at Miss Universe).

What does "consecutive placings" mean ? Jay 07:58, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Move content from Femina Miss India

I would have just done this as a redirect, but page history on Femina Miss India makes me think that this may be reverted, so am treating this as controversial. --Brian G 04:59, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Table of winners

I've created the full table of winners list. I am also deleting the other longer list. It is pointless to maintain both. Please feel free tomake corrections if there have been slips... ChiragPatnaik (talk) 09:45, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

What's with the weird ordering of the columns? Shouldn't Miss India Universe be the first column, followed by World, Asia-Pacific etc..? -- Shaktimaan (talk) 07:31, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Question

Who are the actual Miss India winners. ShahidTalk2me 09:12, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Why was "Femina Miss India" merged with "Miss India"?

There are MULTIPLE "Miss India" pageants in India. Femina Miss India is just one of them. Gladrags Miss India is another contest. There's also a Miss India Universe competition separate from Femina Miss India now? AyanP (talk) 23:50, 2 April 2010 (UTC)Ayan

I have changed Miss India to a disambig page and I am in process of tidying up the links. It is difficult to know what to do with pre-1963 links so I am just de-linking them at present. If anyone can help with this, please do. Biscuittin (talk) 12:21, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

3 equal winners vs 1 winner

There seems to be an edit war going on about this topic. Kindly bring up the issues here on the talk page and try to get consensus first. BollyJeff | talk 12:16, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

The Femina Miss India contest had not one, but three winners, organisers said in 2007, with all three finalists being treated on par with each other. The reference, www.bollywood.ac, that purportedly supported the claim that "the pageant declared the Miss India-World as the official winner with two runners-up" is a blog. The blog, bollywood.ac, picked up the info from ApunkaChoice.com. Blog in general is not a reliable source because it may not be subject to the news organization's normal fact checking process (see WP:SOURCE. The references currently cited (The Hindu and Daily News and Analysis) support the fact that Femina Miss India organizers declared no more runners-up in the Femina Miss India contest (and that all 3 winners were equal) in 2007 and the references were from third party reliable sources as defined by wiki policy and that the news originated from Press Trust of India, the largest news agency in India which took over the Indian operations of the Associated Press and Reuters soon after India's independence on August 15, 1947. According to WP:NEWSORG, "News reporting" from well established news outlets is generally considered to be reliable for statements of fact. News reporting from less well established outlets is generally considered less reliable for statements of fact. The Hindu and Daily News and Analysis quoted directly the statement of pageant director Manish Suri in 2007: "Unlike the previous years, we decided that all three finalists, who represent the country in different international pageants after bagging the titles, were all winners. That is why we decided to name three winners". The blog just cited the source as "Pantaloon official" while the The Hindu and Daily News and Analysis specifically cited pageant director Manish Suri as the source of the info. The Times of India website, the official website of Femina Miss India, cited three titles (PFMI World 2007, PFMI Universe 2007, PFMI Earth 2007) as winners in 2007 (see here: indiatimes.com) and not just a winner with first and second runners up. Furthermore, The Times of India, the official publication of Femina Miss India pageant published an article on Apr 9, 2007 about "THE WINNERS: Pantaloons Femina Miss India Earth Pooja Chitgopekar, Pantaloons Femina Miss India World Sarah-Jane Dias, and Pantaloons Femina India Miss Universe, Puja Gupta" (see here the photo and the article: timesofindia.indiatimes.com).--Richie Campbell (talk) 15:34, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Lakshmi Pandit Dethroned, as she was already married -> Lakshmi Pandit, surrendered her title on Wednesday following a controversy about her marital status.

The page contains old information which now outdated and therefore incorrect.

The line "Since 2015 Glamanand Supermodel India headed by Nikhil Anand owns the rights to send India's representatives to Miss Earth."

must be changed because in 2016, Nikhil Anand lost the franchise rights of Miss Earth India to the Prospur Group. So now its the Prospur Group and not Nikhil Anand who owns the rights to send India's representatives to Miss Earth.

Misuse of boldface and italics and other emphasis

In these edits I removed a shitload of boldface and italic formatting from the article. Someone/some people have gone overboard with the emphasis and much of what was bolded and italicized should not have been. See MOS:BOLDFACE and MOS:ITALICS. What should be obvious to anyone, is that when you emphasize everything, emphasis no longer has meaning. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:51, 9 September 2016 (UTC)

In this edit I removed the font formatting from the various tables. It serves no useful purpose and is redundant. The tables are already formatted by color, with pink indicating who the winner was. We don't need to further emphasize who the winners were by making all the text related to them 115% larger. It unduly attracts attention to the wins. It also looks stupid.
