Fair use rationale for Image:RIC 1386b.jpg[edit]

Image:RIC 1386b.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Gens[edit]

Shouldn't she be "Aurelia Faustina" as her father's gens was Aurelius. Annia is her mothers' maiden gens and wouldn't pass down. Or am I mistaken? Furius (talk) 14:01, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Birleys[edit]

I really wanted to consolidate the references to Birley 2001 with those to Birley Marcus Aurelius, but I couldn't find a 2001 edition of Marcus Aurelius (paperback version of the 2000 original edition?). There are so many scholarly Birleys I thought it would be safer not to presume that this was the same work. Any ideas? Q·L·1968 22:38, 5 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

About her children[edit]

According to the current version, this is the list of her children with dates of birth, but no source provided:

  1. Annia Aurelia Galeria Faustina (147 – after 165)
  2. Gemellus Lucillae (died around 150), twin brother of Lucilla
  3. Annia Aurelia Galeria Lucilla (148/50–182), twin sister of Gemellus, married her father's co-ruler Lucius Verus
  4. Titus Aelius Antoninus (born after 150, died before 7 March 161)
  5. Titus Aelius Aurelius (born after 150, died before 7 March 161)
  6. Hadrianus (152–157)
  7. Domitia Faustina (born after 150, died before 7 March 161)
  8. Annia Aurelia Fadilla (159–after 211)
  9. Annia Cornificia Faustina Minor (160 – after 211)
  10. Titus Aurelius Fulvus Antoninus (161–165), twin brother of Commodus
  11. Lucius Aurelius Commodus Antoninus (Commodus) (161–192), twin brother of Titus Aurelius Fulvus Antoninus, later emperor
  12. Marcus Annius Verus Caesar (162–169)
  13. Vibia Aurelia Sabina (170 – died before 217)

However, the stemma in Anthony Birley, Marcus Aurelius, rev. ed. (Barnes & Noble reprint of 1993 paperback ed., dated 1999) provides this list of the children, many in a different order of birth:

  1. Domitia Faustina (born 30 November 147, died 151)
  2. Titus Aurelius Antoninus (born 149, died 149), twin brother of
  3. Titus Aelius Aurelius (born 149, died 149)
  4. Annia Aurelia Galeria Lucilla (born 7 March 150, died 182?)
  5. Annia Aurelia Galeria Faustina (born 151, died ?)
  6. Titus Aelius Antoninus (born 152, died 152)
  7. unnamed son (born 157/8, died 157/8)
  8. Fadilla (born 159, died ?)
  9. Cornificia (born 160, died 213)
  10. Titus Aurelius Fulvus Antoninus (born 31 August 161, died 165), twin brother of
  11. Lucius Aurelius Commodus Antoninus (born 31 August 161, died 31 December 192)
  12. Marcus Annius Verus Caesar (born 162, died 169)
  13. Hadrianus (born after 161, died 180 or later)
  14. Vibia Aurelia Sabina (born c. 170, died ?)

It's hard to determine which is correct. Unless a source can be found for the first list that is more recent (or better) than Birley's, Birley's order should be used. Not only because of his authority, but he provides notes & sources for his decisions. -- llywrch (talk) 05:53, 19 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I note that the list has been changed since this, to now specify 16 children. This is different than the single reference quoted (a Haaretz article about Barbie), and also notably different from what should be an equivalent list at Marcus Aurelius. The additions were made by User:StarTrekker in October 2021. The list in the Aurelius article has several citations for individuals, although not all of them. I note in particular Hadrianus is listed after Commodus in that article, while the dates given in this article seem unlikely (born in the same year as Tiberius Aelius, while not be marked as a twin). I'd suggest nuking this section and replacing it with the text from the Aurelius article. Tarl N. (discuss) 22:15, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
