What page 293 of Pourshariati says:

“the armies of Islam, under the command of Im¯am H. asan b. ,Al¯ı and ,Abdall¯ah b. ,Umar . . . and H. udhayfah,” had come to Amul. ¯ 1681 The population of T. abarist¯an therefore, desperate from hardship and adversity, decided that they must find a great king under whose command they could all gather. None, they reckoned, could take up this position except B¯av. The people of T. abarist¯an, therefore, invited B¯av to become their king. The latter happily accepted their invitation, provided that they agreed that his rule would be absolute."

"According to Ibn Isfand¯ıy¯ar, the army that attempted the first unsuccessful conquest of T. abarist¯an in 30 AH/650–651 CE was that of Sa,d b. ,As ¯ . . Ibn Isfand¯ıy¯ar does not specify, however, how B¯av received this army or how he cleared the region of all the enemies. Once B¯av had secured the region, he ruled for 15 years" HistoryofIran (talk) 23:53, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
