Note that the Morrison link says, "The heavy accent on the 'vile' nature of mankind grows tedious and has no dramatic strength. German's music too, despite its artistry and thoughtful craftsmanship is not really a vehicle for satire. It has not the swashbuckling vigour of Sullivan, and his characteristic touches of harmony, and rhythmic change, the modulations and extended phrases argue a restraint and delicacy of feeling, at variance with Gilbert's bludgeoning attacks on everything and everyone."

Dunhill says, ":that ill-fated light opera, 'Fallen Fairies,' condemned to failure through being harnessed to a libretto which represented Gilbert at his weakest...."

The Morning Post remarked on the serious nature of the opera: "The public does not associate homilies with a libretto by Sir William Gilbert, and such are freely provided in the closing scene in which Selene endeavours to draw moral conclusions from the contact of the fairies with the wicked world." -- Ssilvers 12:59, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Production photos[edit]

I have a few original production photos which appeared in my book. I'd like to add them but I can't remember how to do it. Do you think they would benefit the page at all? Great! Why don't you upload the two best ones. Just click on "upload file" in the list at left. It is very automatic now and will ask you questions and help you to select the right Public Domain license tag, etc. Once you upload them, if you want help putting them into the article, let me know the urls of the upload page, and I'll help you. Or, if you get frustrated when you try, just e-mail them to me, and I'll do it.
