Game modes[edit]

Would it be a good idea to add sections for the playable scenarios or campaigns? SomeInternetMan (talk) 01:38, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A whole section, likely not per WP:GAMECRUFT , WP:PLOT and various MOS:VG items. We can mention them, but more then a couple sentences would be an undue amount. Reliable secondary sources would have to have covered the material for us to include more than that. —  HELLKNOWZ   ▎TALK 09:16, 18 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Plot[edit]

As of now, the game is in early access and the plot is underdeveloped. From ingame play, the only thing we know is that the player survived a crash into the planet, and is motivated to build a rocket. I removed some unverified claims about the plot which is not present ingame, and which the cited Czech article did not mention. I suggest expanding the plot with the specifics of the ingame campaign, in lack of any other official lore to go by. –Artorp (talk) 09:18, 28 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Steam Rating[edit]

Adding comment here as someone (rightfully) reverted my edit. I should have checked the history to see others had tried to add Factorios steam success, but instead I had just checked the talk page and saw nothing so added away. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:8003:548F:9A00:4CBB:3C03:927:A1DD (talk) 02:35, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

User ratings are generally not included since they can be gamed. However, if a reliable third-party news site has noted this, then it can be added. Best I know, no one has said this of Factorio. --Masem (t) 03:55, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Noteworthy info?[edit]

The species Neobuthus factorio (article still does not exist, see reference in Neobuthus) was named in honor of this game, since it was described by the lead developer's father. I feel like this is noteworthy info, but where should it be included in the article? Lead or a new sub-section? Or does someone believe it shouldn't be here? I'm looking forward to your opinions. Additional sources for multiplayer[edit]

A while ago I added some (mostly primary) sources for a lot of changes that were previously not sourced or used unreliable sources. I stopped editing the article after I was made aware of the COI guidelines — I am an employee of the company that develops Factorio. I saw that there was some recent activity regarding whether multiplayer can be competitive, the article uses a primary source for this. I propose to add an article from 2017 as secondary source for this section; the linked article is a source both for multiplayer existing at all ("Meanwhile, the blueprint library enables players to keep blueprints of their game saves and even share them in multiplayer mode.") and PvP being part of the base game ("Wube Software included new scenarios for PvP and Wave defense in 0.15.0 as well."). Another possible source for general multiplayer could be a Swiss article from 2019. With these newer secondary sources it should reasonable to remove the "Largely primary sourcing; secondary sources are old and limited" note from the section. I'm refraining from editing the page myself due to the above mentioned COI. -- Bilka2 (talk) 14:31, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like the sources did not get added to the page, however the note regarding the sourcing was removed. I assume this means the sources are fine. As far as I can see in the COI guidelines, it's okay for me to make verifiable edits such as adding sources as long as I make the COI clear. So, I have added the ibtimes article and described the COI in the edit summary. I also adjusted the template at the top of the page to make clear that I am not paid to edit Wikipedia. -- Bilka2 (talk) 09:11, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox image[edit]

Since the game is now officially released, should the image in the infobox be changed from a logo to the cover art used on its website, per WP:VGIMAGES. Here is the image and the page where the image is displayed. comrade waddie96 (talk) 09:13, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've gone ahead with the change, discuss here if need be. comrade waddie96 (talk) 09:42, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

G2A Controversy[edit]

I think its noteworthy. One reference to the before:

And four references to the aftermath:

I'll get to writing this one. Zero Serenity (talk - contributions) 19:00, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's also written up at G2A too, so you can pull from there. --Masem (t) 21:27, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I see you have added it. Just a question. Does it belong in legacy though? Maybe it's better suited for the development section, or a seperate section. I don't have a concrete idea about it either. Just asking for opinions. Squeezdakat (talk) 15:53, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Honestly I wasn't sure where to put it. When I saw legacy I thought "This is important to it and G2A, so I guess I'll put it here?" Zero Serenity (talk - contributions) 15:55, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'd stick it as a development thing around the release information. We try to avoid "controversy" sections and this certainly isn't a controversy over Factorio itself, but one that it was involved in, so a non-header paragraph about its release makes sense. --Masem (t) 16:14, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok that's done then. On a related note I also took the liberty of moving mods from development to gameplay. Cheers! Squeezdakat (talk) 04:38, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
