The title of this page should identify it as referring to a fictional family. Similar pages sometimes include this information in brackets; thus, two possible options would be "Ewing family (television)" or "Ewing family (fictional)." Thor Ewing (talk) 18:04, 17 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ewing Oil[edit]

I am reluctant to add anymore to it as it is already very long and perhaps more detailed than is needed for Wikipeidia, but I would note the Ewing Oil section is not entirely accurate as concerns the company in the last year or so of the original Dallas as it misses some changes in ownership.

It states that "Bobby, J.R. and Cliff ran Ewing Oil together. After his new wife April died in 1990, Bobby decided to leave Ewing Oil, as he blamed the oil business for her death. Later J.R. sold his Ewing Oil shares to Cliff Barnes, because he was planning to take over WestStar Oil. J.R.'s plot didn't succeed and he lost control of both Ewing Oil and WestStar on the same day. At the end of the original series in 1991, Cliff Barnes had become sole owner of Ewing Oil." This sounds like Bobby and then JR sold out to Cliff, but that is not what happened.

Actually Cliff left Ewing Oil about a year before Bobby sold it - it was just Bobby and JR owning and running it for most of the 1989-90 season and the start of the 1990-91 season. It was then Bobby decided to sell the company against JR's wishes, but JR could not prevent the sale. The company passed first to LeeAnn De La Vega (who it turned out wanted revenge against JR) then to Michelle Stevens who brought her "husband", JR's son James Beaumont into the company. In the penultimate episode of the series JR is able to get 50% of the company from Michelle, while Cliff has managed to get the other half by marrying her. It is then JR sells his 50% to Cliff after Carter Mackay had tricked him into thinking he needed to do so to takeover WestStar.

However I think the section is long enough (if not too long and detailed) as it is, so I wonder if it would be better to simply say " For a while Bobby, J.R. and Cliff ran Ewing Oil together, though Cliff eventually left the business. After his new wife April died in 1990, Bobby sold Ewing Oil, as he blamed the oil business for her death. The final season saw various changes in ownership, but the original series ended in 1991 with Cliff Barnes becoming sole owner of Ewing Oil."

last appearance[edit]

If the Ewing family was in the 2012 revival as per the text, how was its last appearance in 1991, as per the infobox? ~TPW 16:39, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Good spot. Just looks like it was overlooked. I've changed it. --Blurryman (talk) 00:06, 10 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
