Walkovers/ WTA list[edit]

In the WTA Head-to-head given in the article it lists the walkovers, which I think is valid but which is also official. Why do you think it should not be in? Alonsornunez (talk) 21:08, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because a walkover is like the match never happened for wins and losses purposes, and no source counts them. You, however, are wrongly insisting on saying that Evert won a match when Navratilova didn't play it. That's patently incorrect. Tennis expert (talk) 21:15, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's how it's listed by the official WTA head-to-head. Why ignore the official way the list is laid out? Alonsornunez (talk) 21:21, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The WTA does not credit Evert with a victory over Navratilova in the example I gave above. You, however, are doing so. That's simply wrong. Tennis expert (talk) 21:22, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm simply following the WTA's precedent in listing them in the head-to-head. Alonsornunez (talk) 21:28, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, you're not. You're saying that one player won and the other lost during a walkover. Tennis expert (talk) 21:40, 14 March 2009 (UTC)0[reply]

Third Opinion: Greetings! I see that someone requested a WP:3O about this dispute. Having researched the issue (and in addition to being a longtime tennis fan), I believe Tennis expert has the better argument here. The WTA's website lists the rivalry at 43-37 in Navratilova's favor. Neither of those numbers includes walkovers (neither Evert's walkover win in Orlando in 1975 nor Navratilova's walkover win in Washington in 1981).
