In Greek mythology there are many "Gods" that have many different abilities. Such as Zeus with his ability to throw lightning. And Thor who could create thunder and weild an aww inspiring hammer. Another one of these gods was Euterpe. She was one of the nine muses. Now the parents to these nine girls were Emathia (Macedonia) and his wife Euippe who happened to be a king and queen. Now these two had nine girls who later came to be called the nine muses. Why were these girls considered to be gods? Because Emathia was Zeus's son. The nine muses were Calliope, Clio, Erato, Euterpe, Melpomene, Polyhymnia, Terpsichore, Thalia, and Urania. Each were given a different ability such as geometry and poetry. But Euterpe had the power of song. She was often later reffered to as the flute and in many paintings she is holding one. She is said to have made the double flute. The word "Catis" redirects to this article but I could not figure out why, the word does not appear anywhere in the article. I've retargeted it the more likely misspelling of the species "Catus". (attn:original creator of redirect-@Mmcknight4:) -- Ϫ 05:38, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Catis is a taxononym synonym for Euterpe (plant), and should have been redirecting there, as it does now. 01:48, 12 August 2019 (UTC)
