Confusing!

This entry is really poorly written. The overall concept is not clearly explained. Indeed, the first sentence does not conform to the most common usage of the terms "emulsion" (droplets of one liquid in another) and "dispersion" (fine particles of a solid in a liquid). So the phrase "emulsion dispersion" is contradictory. Any improvement and clarification is welcome. Delmlsfan (talk) 02:47, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

I certainly agree about the confusing nature of this article. It appears to be an essay with the intended audience being other polymer chemists. "emulsion dispersion" despite sounding somewhat contradictory, does indeed appear to be a term, and does appear to be specific to polymer science. Unfortunately, every place I find the term used, it's in a manner that assumes you know the meaning. I can't find anything friendly and introductory from just a cursory Google search. As you noted an emulsion one liquid finely dispersed in another liquid, while a dispersion is a solid homogenously dispersed as fine particles in a liquid. So an emulsion dispersion is something in between: an elastomer or a thermoplatic finely dispersed in a liquid ;-) BUT I agree, the article is not good, nor am I an expert in this. --Langbein Rise (talk) 18:29, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
