Not Metalcore[edit]

Metalcore has got to be one of the most overused and abused subgenre classification ever. Especially in relation to new Christian hard rock bands. It's particularly telling that in the whole of the article their style is listed as death metal, alternative metal, and then hard rock, with no mention of punk, hardcore or for that matter metalcore within the bulk of the article. The best classification for this band would be probably alternative metal or alternative rock as more than half of the bands work dictates.

For arguments sake (as I have once been confused on the definition of "metalcore" myself) "metalcore" is a subgenre of hardcore, which is a blend of punk and metal, "metalcore" having greater emphasis on the heavy sound of metal. It's not a band with 'metal at it's core' or just a generic label for metal bands that feature screamed vocals.
