Why is there an external link to some person's personal webpage? Is there not a better link we could provide? Is there any reason for linking to a page about a person when the article is not about that person? --Alynna 20:48, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Something's wrong here, the article is too rosy[edit]

This article needs to have a section on the problems with agents and how most users don't like them because their AI sucks. Microsoft burned a HUGE amount of money researching and pushing agent technology on its gigantic user base before acknowledging that the vast majority of users hate agents and finally throwing agents in the trash. Look at Microsoft Bob, Microsoft Agent, and the Office Assistant. Microsoft Agent no longer ships with Windows as of Windows 7 and the Office Assistant has been gone for a while. --Coolcaesar (talk) 10:38, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The issue with these systems is that they are merely pets, that just distract from the task at hand. If the tasks are non-technical then emotional components can be useful. Also embodiment is for an AI to learn from the real world, and not focused on emotions. This article is just written from one POV, not just rosy.

What is this about?[edit]

I think I understand what a software agent is.
I think I understand what an intelligent agent/rational agent is.
I think I understand what "embodied" means to cognitive science and artificial intelligence.
I think I understand what the "embodied" movement in robotics was.

What is this article about? Because I can't tell. It seems to to switch between all the above topics sentence-by-sentence. Since each of these topics is completely different, I have no idea what this article is for.
