Dates of the school year

Greetings all. The page Academic term lists countries by the date/extent of the school year. North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania are almost exclusively represented on the list. This country has not yet been added onto the page. Would anyone be able to pop over, and give it a quick edit? Thanks, samwaltz 22:30, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Add video to Basic Education section

Hi, I am a volunteer of Global Lives Project. A video of students in a Lebanese Elementary school classroom might be helpful here? In the video, you can see students working on an assignment. The video can be found here hereIndu Murali (talk) 20:05, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Reconstruction of the article

Hi there. I have edited the article quite a lot. Here is what I have been doing, and why:

  • Creation of a "Education system" section, gathering all the pre-tertiary education. I have followed the structure and the terms used by the International Bureau of Education (UNESCO) and adapted the former text to it (The former version was a bit confusing, mixing primary/pre-primary education , basic/intermediate education, so I tried to put some order in it).
  • Deletion of the map: it might be suited for the article Lebanon, but it is not really linked to education in Lebanon.
  • Deletion of the "Medium" section and moving of its text to the leader. I respect the will to highlight this information, but a couple of line does not make a section ("Very short or very long sections and subsections in an article look cluttered and inhibit the flow of the prose." as the MoS says). In the leader, the information is stressed without "breaking the flow of the prose".
  • Higher Education changed to "tertiary education": Higher Education = university or institution offering bachelor degree (TVETipedia - UNESCO-UNEVOC), Tertiary Education = Global term for post secondary Education (TVETipedia -UNESCO-UNEVOC)
  • addition of many "citation needed": Many statements need sources, especially in tertiary Education.
  • small fixes, deletion of repetition, minor copy/edits

What should be done, in my opinion:

  • Rewriting the "Tertiary education" section: There are lots of interesting material BUT there are also many POV ("prestigious universities"... What does that refer to ??) and the section globally have the smell of OR. I might come back later to delete all the texts not backed by a Reliable Source.
  • Melting the "curriculum" section into another section. I have not been able to do it, as I am still missing the meaning of it... :x
  • copy/edit the whole article: I can't do it, as I am no English native speaker. I can still feel that this article is not written in a clean English. The article is sometime confusing due to an approximate grammar.

At the present stage, I honestly don't think this article reaches the B quality level. It is a bit messy, incomplete, it lacks sources and the language level is erratic. It looks more like a good "C" level to me. I keep this page on my watchlist so don't hesitate to give your opinion here. I'll gladly answer. Regards KaptainIgloo (talk) 15:46, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
