Notability[edit]

This article has recently been flagged with {{notability}}. The notability guidelines for academics suggest that an individual is sufficiently notable if "The person is or has been an elected member of a highly selective and prestigious scholarly society or association (e.g., a National Academy of Sciences or the Royal Society)", a condition which Corrigan has satisfied. I agree however that the article as it currently stands does not do a good job of explaining his notability. Gareth Jones (talk) 16:25, 17 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

feel free to expand the article, references for academics are notoriously sparse. there is an anti-academic bias here, and a lack of understanding of notability, by those who presume to "enforce rules". how many MacArthurs and FRS's will be nominated for deletion? each is a mark of shame. Need disambiguation page for Edward Corrigan and title change for this page[edit]

This web page refers to Francis Edward Corrigan the theoretical physicist. However, the page about 1890 Kentucky Derby winner Riley, which mentions the owner and trainer as Edward Corrigan, erroneously links to THIS page. That needs to be fixed pronto. The entry for Hawthorne Race Course in Stickney, IL correctly lists Ed Corrigan as the founder of that thoroughbred horse racing track -- but he's not the same guy as the theoretical physicist. You really should distinguish between the two men. AND you need a disambiguation page, plus an entry for Edward Corrigan the horse owner/trainer and racetrack owner.
