Eco, eco or ECO?[edit]

The capitalisation "Eco" used in the article is unusual, as in English, currencies are usually spelled in lowercase. However, some sources in the article spell it as "ECO" [1][2]. Anybody care to weigh in? DaßWölf 23:29, 11 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Historybdarkafka[edit]

According to this article. The original Africa's planned eco zone was to include 15 states.

"Martial Ze Belinga, a Cameroonian economist, told DW: "In a way, we now have two Ecos. One that the 15 African countries voted for and whose name was already decided in 2003. And today there is a new Eco which France and the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) countries have chosen — independently of the others."--2A02:ED0:5FC5:DB00:9DAC:918D:D67F:70A7 (talk) 12:57, 25 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The History section is problematic[edit]

More certainly, it is an poor translation (maybe from google translate) and copy paste from something, especially in the latter paragraphs. Anyone to fix it? 188.73.194.219 (talk) 17:30, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What does this mean?[edit]

"There are only five countries that ended up in Abuja out of the fifteen of the Economic Community of West African States [ECOWAS]", he fumed, cutting the grass under his feet CFA anti-Francs, many of them shouting “white cap and white cap”. It doesn't make any sense to me. Also, all cites should be with references or in blockquotes. --Jakeukalane (talk) 13:55, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's a bad translation of text from the corresponding French-language article. Let's give it a better translation:
"Only five countries were present in Abuja out of the fifteen of the Economic Community of West African States [ECOWAS]", he fumed, upsetting the plans of those opposed to the CFA Franc, many of whom shouted 'it's the same thing'" [i.e. that the new Eco is the same thing as the old CFA Franc] Ondinegreen (talk) 06:09, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
