What album earned RIAA's first platinum rating? Trekphiler 17:28, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The first album was Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) in February 1976. Hotel California was the first studio album to be certified platinum in December 1976. For a more comprehensive list, visit this link. SOAD KoRn (talk) 22:35, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Long Road Out of Eden certification[edit]

Aren't double albums certified twice as high as they have sold? For example, a double album that sells a million copies is certified 2x Platinum, not Platinum. So is Long Road Out of Eden certified 7x Platinum because it has sold about 3 and a half million copies (3.5 X 2 = 7). If so, then shouldn't we remove the note concerning its sales and certification? In theory, today, double albums are only certified as 2 album sales only if total lenght is more than 100 minutes. But i think they have changed rules, in Wikipedia's album page says 90 minutes. The album was certified twice. [[1]] --Losigro (talk) 07:56, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Farewell 1 Tour-Live[edit]

Why isn't in the "Live albums" section? It's certified x30 Multi Platinum by RIAA (Source) -тнєѕαℓχ - tคlк - ¢σηтяιвυтισηѕ 02:29, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Two highest-selling albums??[edit]

"Their highest-selling studio album is 1976's Hotel California" "highest-selling album [...] "Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975)" now what? Their Greatest Hits is the top seller, I don't think Hotel California was..? an error? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.27.118.82 (talk) 04:11, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia makes a pointless distinction between "studio" albums and "compilation" albums which leads to confusing statements like the one above. Piriczki (talk) 14:42, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
