Usage before release of album?[edit]

In the Media Usage list of Unearthed, there is a listing for a 1999 film. Isn't Unearthed released in 2001? If so, how does it even use a song that was released only a year later? Xenonym (talk) 04:08, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Poor Article[edit]

Removed sentence listing where their album can be bought - that is just blatant spam. This whole article is pretentious, full of prose that lauds the band unnecessarily, and provides more info about their albums than the band themselves. The Sources are also very dubious - they appear to be self-sourced. I can find no evidence in the article that makes it seem like fancruft. There could be more information on the band itself, but I see no reason to classify it as spam or fancruft whatsoever. I have removed the "fan" template from the article. Max (talk) 17:36, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I fixed one sentence near the very beginning that looked like it was written by a very young fan. After that I lost heart. At any rate, this article really needs to be rewritten. Each of the articles for the different movies now have links back to this article in their See Also section. Each is has information about what track was used for the trailer. I did this to get the content and the references out there. If some of the links need to be removed that is fine. I would prefer to have content removed than have none at all. Posthumus Zone[edit]

I decided to include the info found in the Posthumus Zone article and put some of it in the 'media usage' sub-section of the Unearthed album.

Thanks for the effort and time you are putting into this article. It is much appreciated. A Note: Posthumus Zone is not part of the Unearthed album. It does not belong in that section. Trailer Appearance[edit]

Is the music from the Pirates of the Carribean Dead Man's Chest trailer also by E.S. Posthumus? I'm not familiar with that track --vex5 21:27, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unearthed Track Listing - Request for Comments[edit]

There has been some discussion recently on how the track listing should be displayed and what song titles should link to.

Some Possible Options (suggestions welcome)

  • no links in song titles, just a list
  • song titles link to individual song pages
  • song titles link to related city pages
  • song titles link to both individual song pages and related city pages

My personal opinion is that the track names should point to their corresponding city pages. I do not see the need for individual song pages. Perhaps if a song has been released as a single and became popular but for these songs I think the information can be consolidated into the main page. Writers Listed on ASCAP - Factual Accuracy Dispute[edit]

User 69.235.139.166 (I'm guessing "Windsor girl") has provided links [3] that list Robert and Jeff Pfeifer as the writers of songs such as Tikal and Elba and associates them with E.S. Posthumus and Wigshop records.

I believe that we need to carefully choose our wording based on the evidence available. We do not know that they are the same people even though I find it difficult to accept another set of brothers working on the project. It is not uncommon for an actor or musician to distribute their work using an alias. That does not make it an "elaborate hoax". Using different names to distribute their work does not mean that their story is inacurate.

We need to do more research on this topic before putting too much emphasis (using the words "truth" or "hoax") on one story over another. Peteresch 16:51, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes you are right Peteresch, we don't know 100% that it is the people listed on the ACE database. So of course feel free to correct the language used there. However, I am 99.9% sure it is the same people - the German names/pseudonyms used don't exist in any databases, and the Pfeifer brothers are established composers - evident in their list of credits. If you click on The Pfeifer brothers' links, you will see that they are linked to EVERY E.S Posthumus song: [4]

Just to clarify. I am not really strugling with the accuracy of the ascap database. They are a trusted source. What I am concerned with is now we have mutliple reliable sources giving conflicting information. Acording to wikipedia guidelines it is not our job to determine "truth" only verifiability. I changed the article a bit [5]. The ASCAP database is mentioned, but the article still refers to the artists as Vonlichten. They've chosen it and that's how they're popularly known. Compare with Bono, which refers to Paul Hewson a grand total of two times. The cited ASCAP links were an error in the ACE data base that has been remedied. I have removed the references. There is no link in the ASCAP data base linking Helmut and Franz to robert and or jeff pfeifer. I think it would be nice if the band could take credit for it's own work rather than have it credited to a couple of fucking loser television music writers. PLease do not publish anymore false information, rumors or innuendoes about the band. If they are shy or simply more interested in being artists than rock stars, let them be for christ's sake.

I'm not sure where to add this information, but those "loser television writers" the above post refers to are actually very successful film trailer composers and are indeed also "Franz" and "Helmut". I know this because I have met them and been present when they have won ASCAP awards for their work (which they always do under their stage-names). I'm not sure why, at this point, they want to keep their true identities secret, but I assume they feel it would damage their credibility with people like the above poster. Nonetheless, after all these years, it seems to me that Wikipedia has a greater obligation not to propagate a hoax, however harmless.

First of all, as a Jewish Gay Male I find it unimaginable that even on a discussion page that the above language is permitted on Wikipedia. Shame on you !!! I cannot believe that Wikipedia would support the ranting of bigots and racists. Secondly, as someone intimately involved with the business dealings of E.S. Posthumus since 2001, I can tell you as a fact that Helmut and Franz are indeed Helmut and Franz. As their manager, I personally receive their ASCAP royalty checks, which are made out to Helmut Vonlichten and Franz Vonlichten. . I have met the boy's wonderful mother on numerous occasions (Their father died in a tragic accident over 10 years ago) , and to refer to the the Matriarch of the Vonlichtens or their father as Nazis is simply slanderous and incomprehensible in this day and age. I understand that there was a problem with the ACE Database, but as wonderful and efficient of an organization ASCAP is, they would be the first to admit ACE has had many problems over the years. Thirdly, after two albums (with a third due out in December 2009), several singles amounting in in hundreds of thousands of units sold, 2 Emmy awards, countless ASCAP awards, numerous television themes (Cold Case,The NFL On CBS, MLB Tonight, The U.S. Open, The Masters ... the list goes on and on) and over 300,000 unique visitors per month to the E.S Posthumus website, I have a difficult time wondering why this body of work and recognition would be insinuated as a hoax or credited to any one other than E.S. Posthumus. Obviously the above discussion contributer(s) has a problem or dispute with the Vonlichten Brothers. I have no doubt they are probably the infatuated maniacs that have set up counterfeit Official Facebook and Myspace pages for E.S. Posthumus which are full of erroneous information, innuendoes and links back to their own lame ESP wannabe projects. Lastly, there is one twist to this situation that may explain it all. On several occasions E.S. Posthumus has been the victim of blatant Copyright Infringement. Attorneys for Wigshop Records (ESP's label) and their publishing company have had to take legal action against well known Television Composers and Movie Trailer Music Composers (amongst others) which resulted in large settlements in favor of Wigshop and ESP's publishing company. These plagiarizing composers are just the type to attend the ASCAP awards and stew as the Vonlichtens receive their accolades. As a result of their sins, these composers may have become infatuated maniacs that cannot the accept reality of The Eighth Commandment. Luckily, the Vonlichtens are focused on writing, recording and not these stalker like weirdoes. If they persist to hound the Vonlichtens it may be wise to provide links with scans of ASCAP checks to the Vonlichtens, as well as the legal documents and checks that accompanied the above mentioned settlements, complete with the signatures of the perpetrators. I am so tired of all this crazyness and it has gone on for way too long. The footprint of Wikipedia is unimaginably large and it is unthinkable that innuendoes and rumors are would be presented as facts. I only wish Helmut and Franz were as bothered by all this nonsense as I am. They seem to think it has added to their popularity and see it as a forum for the poor pitiful fools to vent. We are ramping up the promotion for their upcoming album. I think that links to these documents may help create some buzz. Any thoughts ? I am just soooo angry. It's one thing to state your opinion. Media Usage - Wikipedia Guidelines[edit]

Is Wikipedia the right place to keep a listing of all the places where tracks have been used? While I personally like the idea of having a list to reference I have been wondering if it would be more appropriate to link to another site that may already be maintaining such a list. I have not done any research to see if another site has a complete list so this may not be an option. It might be worth questioning if this page follows the guidelines. The listing of movie/tv references where the tracks have been used has been removed. Personally I thought that this listing was resourceful, but there has been no explanation as to why this page has been edited with the removal of this great source of information. The music on Top Gear Arctic Challenge is quite obviously Pompeii, but the wiki page for the episode lists it as Requiem for a Tower by Corner Stone Cues.... is there a connection here, or is it just a mistake? Possible new content[edit]

I don't know if and how this should be added to the article, but there has been recent activity on the group's official Facebook page, where the maintainer posted: "What was that? Did you all hear it? A faint rustling? Is something happening? Is there something in the air?? Stay tuned..."

Followed a few hours later by: "Well that certainly got your attention didn't I!! LOL...oh and check out how close we are to the 10.000 number!! I wonder if Helmut and I could come up with something really fun to do when we pass the 10,000 mark. I'm going to put my thinking cap on. How about you kids do the same and let's see what ideas you come up with..."

Masters and other sports on CBS themes[edit]
