Poor choice in category removal[edit]

This was an industrial disaster: all kinds of chemicals were released into the air. This is causing deleterious health effects. People are getting debilitating diseases and are dying from the chemicals spewed into the air.

This was not a natural disaster; this was more an act of terror for one day, having an effect only on the victims present at the buildings prior to 9:30 AM that fateful Tuesday. Dogru144 23:17, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Toxic chemicals do not equal Industrial disaster.[edit]

Industrial disasters are mass disasters caused by industrial companies, either by accident, negligence or incompetence. While terrorism is a violent, shameful, tragic thing worthy of note when industry is attacked causing toxicity to people and the environment, it is not an act of an industrial company by any of the above.

Police and the right to protest[edit]

I think it is ironic that the policemen who are sufferring from health effects from working at the wtc are now decrying the "system." When people protest the unfairness of governments, it is the police that arrest the protestors. I wonder how many of these same policemen arrested protestors when the anti war rallys were held in NYC - or when people protested the WTO agreements. Of course I feel really bad for these brave police, but wouldn't they be the first to protect the politicians and corporations who murder people every day? I have been watching the F Word - a film about the Republican Convention protestors. The police really seemed to be enjoying themselves arresting protestors. I could see the expressions of enjoyment on the faces of some of the police as they twisted the handcuffs that were on the young men and women they were arresting. BTW, these same kids would eagerly join in the fight to get these police what they are entitled to.

Will these police join in protests against polluting? When the redwood trees are cut down, will they support protestors or lock them up? When there is chemical dumping, will they arrest investigators as trespassers? Will they break video cameras at protest ralleys? Do they support aggressive internal spying under the patriot act?

Basically, it is the police who maintain the status quo. Just once in my life, I would like to see some police side with an oppressed group. Just once, I would like to see the police say, "Americans have a right to protest." During the french revolution, the police turned to side with the people. I guess that was because they and their families were starving too. Now, these policemen are suffering from the effects of a corrupt EPA. Now they decry the system, but if it were a different group who were injured, would these police protect the EPA and arrest the crazy tree hugging hipppies who might be protesting for a cleaner planet?

Toxic[edit]

Of the many chemicals I'm sure the ammonia was probalby one of the worst caustic agents left over from the pre-emmtive strike, in hindsight. [1] ammonia [2] It's unfortunate that you can find bomb making liturature at the local library or on the internet.
