custom ROM / operating system?[edit]

Many Android phones can easily have a custom OS/ROM installed, like Cyanogen Mod. But this can't (as far as I know) be done with the Droid 3. Yet there are many custom ROMs for Gingerbread (and I believe at least one for Ice Cream Sandwich) available for the Droid 3 - these just aren't part of the Cyanogen Mod project.
