Clean up[edit]

Removed advertising from the UK racing venues section. Anjow 10:34, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will try to clean up this page. Swfong 23:47, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have decided to focus on the History of downhill cycling first. Swfong 06:43, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How about a better picture? You know, one without a couch. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.72.179.13 (talk) 22:15, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This whole article sounds like it was written by a freshman in high school (who is failing english) and is trying to show off what little knowledge of downhill he has. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.203.213.139 (talk) 21:37, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

pro teams spending suporting DH R&D[edit]

I took out a unreferenced statement about how "professional teams sometimes spend tens of thousands of dollars to save weight, increase suspension efficiency and improve handling" and how that tech trickles down to amateurs. It's completely backwards. Pro teams are sponsored by the big bike companies, and are paid to ride the multi-thousand dollar bikes they get. The companies get the benefit of the amateurs spending money on their bikes.--Keithonearth (talk) 06:20, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinates[edit]

What do the coordinates 36° 34′ 45.84″ N, 121° 45′ 51.48″ W have to do with Downhill cycling? Unless they indicate the one location where it occurs, they should be deleted. -AndrewDressel (talk) 14:46, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Those are the coordinates of Fairfax where downhill started. I've removed them from the article on the basis that they're not relevant to a sport that is now global. There's already a link to the WP article on Fairfax which has these coordinates.--Antoin (talk) 14:36, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sea Otter Classic Course Map Coordinates?[edit]

The coordinates given for the Sea Otter Classic course map is about 50 yards west of the Laguna Seca Rifle and Pistol Shooting Range. I doubt any downhill bikers want to be that close to the shooting action.

The Sea Otter Classic website is witholding the 2010 course map until April 1, 2010. The location is more likely to be north of the indicated location, within the Fort Ord public lands. 99.23.190.217 (talk) 09:46, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

is "flattest continent" truly significant?[edit]

The article says

Despite being the flattest continent on earth Australia has produced a large number of internationally successful downhill racers.

Australia could be flat on the scale of high mountains, but still have plenty of downhill courses, so this is interesting if it has significance but it's misleading if it's just a random coincidence. It's not like the Himalayas are the home of downhill biking. I think it should not be in the article unless finding places to ride is actually a challenge for people from Australia. 68.174.97.122 (talk) 21:43, 21 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I removed it.—LithiumFlash (talk) 15:44, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
