Disambiguation policy errors[edit]

The removal of disambiguation edits where there is little chance of confusion is consistent with WP:MOSDAB. Confusion of the actor Douglas Tait - with a non-notable secondary film character, that possesses only a version of the given name and a complete misspelling of the surname (Doug Tate), from a 22 yr. old box office flop - is a prime example. I also correctly stated policy when I originally removed Doug Taitt: "Common misspellings should be listed only if there is a genuine risk of confusion or misspelling." Confusion with a deceased journeyman baseball player who played only 4 years of major league baseball, mostly as a backup, 80-84 years ago is highly unlikely. Confusion with that individual, where the first and the last names would both have to be misspelled, is also highly unlikely and represents no genuine risk of confusion or misspelling. So, consistent with policy, I have removed them again. X4n6 (talk) 20:41, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

These were not in the disamb section, but in the see also section. They are appropriate per Wikipedia:MOSDAB#.22See_also.22_section. I will revert. Two editors at least (the one who added them, and me) think these are appropriate. Please do not remove again unless you get consensus here. Of course, you can always try a dispute resolution process if it is that important to you. Novaseminary (talk) 03:03, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Novaseminary (I'm the one who originally added these to the see also section). Doug Tait redirects to this page. Tait and Tate are both very common spellings of the same name, so can be easily confused, so belong in see also. 'Taitt' is a spelling I haven't seen before, so I think anyone looking him up could easily misspell it, therefore it'd be helpful to have him in the see also section.
