1881 book: A Frederick W. Tennant (b. Ireland Febuary 8, 1855) came to San Jose around age 1. Married Clementina January (who should be daughter of William refernced above) on January 3, 1878. Children: John W. and Margaret M. [10]. (Ancestry records: Clementina Marshall January, b. 1858 Maysville, KY, d. 1900 census has a Dorothy Tennant actress in Detroit, b. July 1973 California, parents b. California.
January 17, 1925 passport application by Dorothy Tennant (certificate 506244); says never previously married. Born San Jose July 10, 1886 (July 10 is her reported birth DAY in other sources). Father Richard E. Tennant now deceased. In England June-September 1901, Czecho Slovakia, June 1901-Octo 1909, June 1910-August 1910. Living at 1730 Broadway NYC. Has passport photo which looks like her (though older).
SS Claims index (January 1937) lists birthday July 10, 1886. Father Richard E. Tennant, Mother Louisa N. Short.
1880 census has Richard Tennant (30) and Louise (26) with George (7) and Laura (5) in Napa.
OK, Marguerite was NOT a sister of Dorothy, just a distant cousin per this report [11].
