Doda v. Dode of Reims[edit]

It appears that Doda (Dode, Dhouda) is a name not entirely uncommon among the Franks and their neighbors, and it seems that the wife of Ferreolus of Rodez and the Abbess of Reims may be two separate people. Following the rationale of the article in the French Wikipedia, the Abbess would hardly have been born, when Ferreolus married in 540. On the other hand had she been a daughter of Sigobert the Lame born before his death around 508, she would have been around 100 years old when she obtained a decree from Pepin re protection of her abbey. (Her putative father Chlodoric the Parricide apparently didn't outlive his father by very much.)

Hagiography re Saint Dode mentions her having been brought up by her aunt Beauve, and succeeding her as abbess, but does not mention either marriage or children. However, by the same token, the article on Sigobert the Lame discusses his murder, but does not mention if Balderic, Abbot of Montfaucon and Beuve were his children. I have removed mention of a marriage to Ferreolus, pending clarification beyond what is provided in the French Wiki article (which also doesn't mention marriage or offspring.)
