Fort Lawton is closed.[edit]

Fort Lawton was officially closed; and hence, it no longer exists anywhere (except in history). See the Wiki Fort Lawton article. I corrected the Discovery Park article to indicate this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tonygumbrell (talkcontribs) 20:53, 3 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Military holdings in Discovery Park[edit]

The article says: "most of the Fort Lawton Historic District (FLHD) falls within the park (although an enclave within the district remains in military hands)" Note, that all of the Fort Lawton Historic District comprises on enclave within the Park. Most of the historic district is part of the park, however former military homes within the district have been sold to private owners and lie on land within the Park that, though still part of the Historic District, is not part of the park, i.e. it is private property. Furthermore, there is no longer any property in military hands within the park anywhere, nor is there any adjacent to the Park. The military is gone. There is a navigation light maintained by the Coast Guard in a small enclave at West Point (within the park), there is a fenced sewage treatment plant entirely within the Park at West Point, there are the aforesaid privately owned homes (former military housing) in the Historic District within the park (but not part of the park), and there is a large, fenced FCC radar dome adjacent to the private homes in the park. The military does not have any holdings in, nor anything to do with the park anymore.174.24.250.45 (talk) 01:24, 28 November 2016 (UTC)Anthony Gumbrell (tonygumbrell
