DYK[edit]

I went ahead and nominated the following hook (feel free to add an alternate if you see fit): "... that Director Park in Portland, Oregon was designed by Laurie Olin, who also designed Bryant Park in New York City?" Also, Tedder, I see you added that Laurie Olin designed Pershing Square in San Francisco, but the link itself directs to Pershing Square (Los Angeles). Should you double check the source to verify the city? --Another Believer (Talk) 18:56, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pershing- since I used that ref in many places, I don't want to excerpt a quote, but here it is: "Olin is best known for his designs of New York's Bryant Park and San Francisco's Pershing Square, and he recently completed the transformation of New York's Columbus Circle. His work isn't flashy but, like the designer himself, relaxed and erudite and wryly humorous." So I'll transform it to a redlink. Thanks for the DYK- I was dashing out the door when I saved this article and the other ones affected (Paranoid Park, PCSQ, etc). tedder (talk) 20:57, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
On second thought, Randy Gragg and the O! must be wrong with that 2006 article. Pershing Square in Los Angeles even says it was designed by Olin, so we'll chalk up the SF part to a mistake. tedder (talk) 20:59, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Urban Land Institute Amanda Burden Open Space Award finalist[edit]

Director Park was one of five finalists for this year's ULI Amanda Burden Open Space Award. (It lost to St. Louis' Citygarden, which also happens to be a GA nomination right now.) Does anyone think this finalist status warrants a mention in the article, or is too minor given that the park did not win? /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 02:47, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's certainly worth mentioning- both that it was nominated and that Citygarden won. It makes Director Park and Citygarden siblings of sorts. You've done a fantastic job writing at Citygarden- can you share some of your writing talents here? tedder (talk) 03:07, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed--definitely worth including. --Another Believer (Talk) 14:54, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've added it, cheers. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 00:52, 24 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
