Similarity[edit]

Some portions of this article are similar with the articles Benoy Basu and Badal Gupta. As the last activity of the trio are the same, I think this similarity in language won't cause any copyright problem.--Dwaipayanc 12:20, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Simpson[edit]

Regarding the Scottish official killed by Dinesh Gupta and his associates, the article currently says: "The association targeted Lt Col NS Simpson, the Inspector General of Prisons, who was infamous for the brutal oppression of the prisoners in the jails."

Is there a reference for this claim that Simpson was infamous for brutality? According to Simpson's obituary in the British Medical Journal (Dec 27, 1930), he was an official of the Indian Medical Service(IMS) and was a humane advocate of prison reform. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2452805/?page=1 Of course this may be an incorrect and partial view put forward by Simpson's British medical colleagues, but the contrary claim that he was infamous for brutality needs to have a supporting reference or else should be removed. Incidentally, the obituary also claims that the three men ran through the building firing randomly into different offices, which suggests that Simpson's killing was random and unrelated to any reputation he had.
