Thinking this article could use expanding, with a more detached tone and overview of the concept, in addition to examples. It also needs references.

Should probably move category:Diaspora_Languages out and make it a see also[edit]

It doesn't really fit the category, as this is a definition page, not an instance of Diaspora Language. -Xz0gsidy — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.134.132.101 (talk) 20:58, 4 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

AAVE in the African American diaspora[edit]

How is this for a section topic: A study of African American enclaves in Nova Scotia, Canada and Samaná, Dominican Republic show a high similarity in the AAVE spoken there and the early versions of AAVE that originated in the south during the 19th century. AAVE in the United States on the other hand has changed substantially due in part to the Great Migrations that happened in the twentieth century.[1] Unlike the other examples given in the article which have the diaspora causing the differences in language due to another culture and languages influences, AAVE in the diaspora actually maintains the originating language and the changes occurred in the culture that it came out of.

This seems good, but first a fuller sectional-layout should be established, at the least perhaps a History Section below a revamped overview paragraph. This could then be a sub-section of History. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xz0gsidy (talkcontribs) 22:11, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting the existing page into sections[edit]

I'm thinking something along the lines of:

History
AAVE in the African American diaspora
Examples
Molise Slavic
Istro-Romanian
See Also

Some of the current first paragraph could be adapted into the History lead-in, with a source on the coining of the term. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xz0gsidy (talkcontribs) 22:16, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ended up not including a history section, as the AAVE part is another example, and history should probably be more focused on the history of the term and study that a particular example. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xz0gsidy (talkcontribs) 18:48, 28 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
