How come there are no v8 engines for class 8 trucks in North America?Isalmerbati 05:08, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • While I know this comment of yours is not totally relevant to this article, I can say that it is all about emissions laws. WikiPro1981X (talk) 03:03, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe, or maybe not. There was a Mack V8 as well, but it also passed by the wayside and not from emissions laws. In general a big V8 is too wide which kills streamlining hence mileage - that could probably be overcome by a different approach to streamlining but a V8 also has less main bearing area than a six, so when you get into the big horsepower numbers they are not as reliable. They would fit better in a cabover but cabovers are not at all popular these days. I wouldn't blame it all on emissions, as there are several factors at work here 116.231.75.71 (talk) 04:08, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
