HELP!!!!

I have just updated the page on this movie and I removed some vital information from the article. Is there any way that this information can be put back into article. Do I have to do it manually? Please help. Thanks.Frschoonover (talk) 00:42, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I hope you discovered in the two years since posting there that you simply need to cut & paste or revert from the past history tab next to the edit and article tab of the page. 74.209.54.156 (talk) 11:07, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

the ascension to heaven scene was shot in an Atlanta Marta station so the statement shoot entirely in LA is false? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.208.41.254 (talk) 13:17, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reception[edit]

Part of this section mentions ...though there are some nice bits, like a hotel lobby sign that reads, WELCOME KIWANIS DEAD- and disregards the two best jokes of the movie. "Daniel tries to take money for a tip for the bellhop and finds none because "You Can't Take it with You", and the stand-up comedian asking Daniel how he died- "on stage, like you" The tip gag is visual obviously, but "on stage, like you" should be included in front of Welcome Kiwanis Dead and if you don't mind I'm going to add it.Dcrasno (talk) 23:25, 30 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Daniel Miller's Age[edit]

I'm trying to figure out Daniel's age at the time of passing. The movie doesn't explicit give out his age but gives many clues on how to figure it out via his timeline flashbacks

  • At the start of the movie, he celebrates his birthday. In 2 months, he will be working for the same advertising company for 10 years
  • Timeline: at age 29 years 4 months 5 days, he accepts the advertising job.
  • Timeline: at age 34 years 7 months 7 days, he flubs a work-related speaking engagement.
  • Timeline: at age 36 years 9 months 16 days, he goes to Hong Kong shortly after getting divorced.

Using a little algebra, we can analyze his age X at the time of death:

X + (2 months) = (29 years + 4 months + 5 days) + (10 years)

this implies:

X = 39 years + 2 months + 5 days

But, this is inconsistent with the fact that he's celebrating his birthday at the start of the movie. We therefore surmise that either he didn't start working right away after accepting the job 10 years ago, or he took a leave of absence within the 10 years. Maybe he took a leave of absence during his divorce at age 36. It is reasonable to deduce that he's 40 years old then. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.35.36.66 (talk) 18:13, 14 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, your calculations come under the dreaded "original research" classification as far as Wikipedia goes. I'm not sure that his age is meant to be more specific than late 30's or early 40's... AnonMoos (talk) 14:15, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Defending Your Life[edit]

Albert Brooks born Albret Aynshetyn may or may not have been aware of the Yiddish playwright I.L.Peretz,1852-1915, and his play Bontshe Shvage (Bontshe the Silent).

In the plays opening act Bontshe who has died, is just outside heaven’s gates but he, who has always been so meek and timid, must defend how he led his life in front of a heavenly court. A prosecutor and defense attorney have been assigned to his case.

Brooks’ parents were not unaware of their Jewish cultural heritage. 69.117.83.154 (talk) 23:53, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
