Career on Screen[edit]

When did you decide you wanted to start a career on screen? EllaMairJones (talk) 22:14, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality[edit]

Added Irish. The children of Irish born Irish citizen are automatically Irish citizens. This is the same manner as the children of British born British citizens are also british citizens. this was re-edited before. I've put back my original edit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kevinc565 (talkcontribs) 20:28, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No, to be classed as Irish in Wikipedia the person has to claim Irish heritage. There is zero evidence provided that Declan relates to his Irish heritage. GimliDotNet (talk) 20:31, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There is no requirement in "wikipedia" for a person to acknowledge his/her nationality. Citizenship is determined by law, not feelings.

I’m afraid you’re mistaken. There are many years of discussions about this subject, especially when it comes to people in countries like the UK, where a person may identify as one of the constituent countries. We go with what the person is more widely identified as. When you provide a verifiable and reliable source that Dec identifies as Irish, feel free to provide it. GimliDotNet (talk) 05:39, 19 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ireland is not a constituent country of the UK both Declans parents are Irish born Irish citizens so that makes him an irish citizen automatically. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kevinc565 (talkcontribs) 02:10, 3 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You’re confusing citizenship with nationality. Unless you provide a source that shows Declan chooses to identify as an Irish national, Irish does not go into the info box. GimliDotNet (talk) 05:09, 3 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No you are doing that. Under Irish law his parents are Irish citizens as they are born in Ireland. therefore under Irish law he is an Irish citizen. he does't need to acknowledge that, as it is a fact. Note: Ireland isn't in the uk, so english. scot. welsh themes a are irrelevant. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kevinc565 (talkcontribs) 04:07, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Just a minute...[edit]

...I've noticed that this page was moved today with his first name shortened yet I don't see a discussion here first.

I still think that "Declan Donnelly" is the common name in the English media by looking at some references and external links in this article and it appears the other wikis with our set of letters have him titled with Declan being part of these titles. Returning this page whence it came and do a requested move discussion should have some agreement to see which one of these titles (Declan or Dec) should be the correct location of the article. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 08:47, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing this out, I have reverted the undiscussed move as "Declan" is indeed more the common name, see Google Ngrams, [1], "Dec" doesn't even show up. The user that did the move themself has been blocked for "disruptive editing", if anyone wants to do a requested move discussion then they can if they want too. Ollieisanerd (talk) 16:10, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't even notice the mover had been blocked ages ago. Thanks for returning the article whence it came. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 21:22, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
