Dr. Alphonso Sanders[edit]

Noted multi-instrumentalist freelance musician, educator, Recording artist and music producer. Born in Dawson, GA, 1956. Graduate of Mississippi Valley State University, Valdosta State University, and the University of Mississippi. In 2002 he was appointed founding director for the Delta Music Institute (DMI), Delta State University. In 2004 he became the founding director for the BB King Recording Studio and Chair of Fine Arts, Mississippi Valley State University. In 2006 he received a Fulbright Scholarship to study the arts and education in China. A 2009 and 2010 award winner in the International Blues Challenge (IBC), Memphis, TN. Received the 2013 Blues Musician of the Year Award, Indianola Mississippi Blues Society. In 2019 he was appointed the position of Provost and Vice President for Student Affairs, Lincoln University, MO.
