Reason for creating this page[edit]

I'm a fan of his BBC radio sit-com "Double Income, No Kids Yet" (DINKY). Searching online for more info about him, and especially as a way to find any other radio series he wrote, found very little at first. Here at Wikipedia, the link from DINKY took me via redirect to "Dave Spicer" the rugby player. I had to dig through lots of Google hits to find anything relevant, and since he is only ever listed by name, without a link to a profile or page specifically about him, it is hard to know that everything included on this page is actually his work.

Assumptions[edit]

In creating this page, I made the following assumptions / leaps of logic:

  1. Anyone listed as a "David Spicer (writer)" or "written by David Spicer" on the BBC website is assumed to be the same person
  2. One description of the play Superheroes: Edinburgh Fringe 2006 says: "Hilarious topical comedy about men, fatherhood and vertigo. Written by David Spicer and directed by Maggie Inchley." As the play is a comedy about men and fatherhood, and is performed in the UK, it seemed consistent with DINKY, so I assumed this is the same man. THIS SHOULD BE INDEPENDENTLY VERIFIED.
  3. I know Jo Brand is a British comedienne, so when I saw the Google hit Jo Brand Unofficial Site at fuzzster.com which stated that David Spicer was a writer for the show "Nobody Likes a Smartass (2003)", it was sufficient evidence for the creation of this stub to assume that the David Spicer IMDB page refers to the same man. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THIS IS INCORRECT, AND IT SHOULD BE INDEPENDENTLY VERIFIED.

Open Questions[edit]

As this is a biographical page, it should include:

  • years of birth and possibly death
  • place of birth
  • etc.

It's my first original Wiki page, and I haven't put in enough time yet with respect to configuring the page with all of the appropriate items and formatting. Any help is appreciated.

Why this isn't just an IMDB Listing[edit]

While it's true that IMDB lists some of the information provided here, it completely ignores radio and theatre, so this page is meant to provide a more comprehensive summary of the writing of David Spicer.

I've also tried to provide links to a synopsis or description of each program, where possible, which IMDB does not provide.

IMDB does have a section of David Spicer where he served as Producer for some TV programs, but as I have not found anything yet that compliments or extends that list (e.g. by adding some radio shows in which he also served as Producer), I have not reproduced it here.
