Becker and/or Fagen addressed Palmer's time in the band during one postmortem interview. If I remember correctly, their contention was that they had no intention whatsoever of touring, and only did so at the insistence of ABC Records. To satisfy the record company, they hired Palmer in a fit of pique due to his resemblance to Roger Daltrey. Given the rather dark sense of humor that Becker and Fagen are known to display, I would question whether this is a true story or yet another put-on. Palmer as Songwriter[edit]

I'm pretty sure Palmer co-wrote the Myddle Class' first single Tomorrow 45-7501 "Free As The Wind"; if so, Carole King was also credited as co-writer (as well as one other band member and their producer Gerry Goffin). So they had cowritten more than a decade before "Jazzman"! 192.12.90.14 (talk) 00:45, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
