Sex Offender Registration category?[edit]

This article was recently added to the sex offender registration category, and I don't understand why. A dangerous offender designation has nothing to do with being registered as a sex offender. Also, not all sex offenders are designated dangerous offenders, and not all dangerous offenders are sex offenders. Being registered as a sex offender is a completely seperate matter from being designated as a dangerous offender (and in fact, there is no registration of dangerous offenders - it's merely a sentencing tool). So unless I am missing something, I would suggest removing the article from this category. Singularity42 (talk) 13:12, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

United States[edit]

I'm glad to see that some information has been provided about related law in the U.S. However, I decided to move it down the article. The basis of the information in the U.S. section is that there is no specific provision called 'dangerous offenders', whereas there is in the other countries listed. Also, considering the intro in the article, it didn't make sense to then lead with the U.S. section. (I actually think it should also come after the England & Wales section, but I thought it might look odd considering that that section only has one sentence.) Why does the United States have a section at all? It doesn't have dangerous offender legislation, as the article says. If it made sense to list it because it DOESN'T have this legislation, shouldn't every country on earth be listed? Why the US and not Chile, or Japan, or Australia? It makes no sense. Furthermore, since England and Wales apparently DO have similar legislation, shouldn't that be where a bit of detail is added by a qualified editor, and the USA section removed altogether? Adding it for an omission makes no sense. (I'm not married to Miley Cyrus, but I've left this bit of information out of her article. However, if you think it's relevant that I'm not married to her, I'll be glad to edit myself in...) 99.237.38.33 (talk) 08:19, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The first two references are dead links. Also, can someone add the requirements for being listed as a dangerous offender for each jurisdiction? LeighRemedios (talk) 12:40, 31 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
