Fair use rationale for Image:200px-CM S6.jpg[edit]

Image:200px-CM S6.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Merger proposal[edit]

Keep appeared in 3 seasons and was a main cast member for two. Very very notable in the 24 universe--Phoenixfan 16:59, November 12 2007 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.112.28.123 (talk) 01:00, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge the character was a sporadic character at the best of time he appeared in a couple of episodes on season 6 and did not appear regulaly in most episodes ini the rest of the seasons he was in. Also he is now dead so should be merged as he will not return and did not appear in the first three seasons. If you want every character to have a page got 24 wikia not wikipedia.--Lucy-marie 15:57, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why, lucy-marie, are characters automatically not notable when they are killed? And now they have to appear in both of the trilogies to get their own article? I'm fine with many of the merger proposals that have been suggested (Yusuf, Bob Warner, Kaufman, etc.) but it's been taken to far on some of them (Sherry Palmer, Edgar, Martha Logan, and Chase Edmunds,to name a few.) Curtis was consistent for most of Season 4, I agree his appearances were somewhat broken up in Day 5. But he was present for many major situatiobns over the course of the show and appeared in over 45 episodes. --Phoenixfan 16:11, 15 November 2007

If you can prove notability then the page will stay, if you can't then the page will merge. please read WP:NOTABLE.--Lucy-marie 12:54, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have read the notability guide. The problem I see is, while I agree Curtis has had no coverage in any sources, the same is true for pretty much every 24 character except Jack. I've looked at all the articles and Chloe and Kim have one external link each, Tony and Michelle one reference each, and Bill two. The thing is, if notability in this particular field (24) was based on coverage in sources, no character except Jack and possibly Tony would ever have gotten thier own article in the first place. In comparison to how Wikipedia has treated other 24 articles in this regard Curtis is equal and therefore notable. My reasons for his notability on the show are above.--Phoenixfan 22:32, 22 November 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.112.17.210 (talk) [reply]

That is probably the most confusing reply i have ever read in m life. I kinda see what you are trying to say, but in the wider 24 in-universe he is not a major character with a continuing or major effect on previous plot lines.--Lucy-marie (talk) 23:29, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Keep: I do not agree with merging this article. He has appeared in three seasons, and out of the 52 episodes between his introduction to his death he appeared in 45 episodes. His death also had an affect on Jack at certain points of the sixth season. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.184.83.137 (talk) 04:44, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Keep I won't even try to say why, because someone will just tell me I am wrong. And to Lucy-Marie, if you want a confusing reply, check out your responses. Misspelled words, run-on sentences, grammatical mistakes, and its I, not i. I can't understand what you're saying. Rhino131 (talk) 21:23, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

comment stick to the content and not the user.--Lucy-marie (talk) 11:31, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: Keep. And you should take your own advice Lucy. You were the first one to toss out an insult when you said that his reply was the most confusing you'd ever read in your life. But of course it confused you--it made perfect sense, AND it gave you the reason to oppose the merger that you're asking for. You just choose to NOT see or understand it. Angelriver 15:41, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Keep, for the reaons the previous members have given. There is no reason to merge this page. --MiB-24 (talk) 06:50, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What reasons are given that the page should not be merged in accordance with wikipedia policy?--Lucy-marie (talk) 11:31, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, Lucy, this comment from you, "but in the wider 24 in-universe he is not a major character with a continuing or major effect on previous plot lines" is NOT criteria for merging. You keep spouting Wiki Policy on notability, and here your argument is based solely on YOUR opinion that the character didn't have any effect on previous plot lines. At the time that those plot lines were airing, Curtis DID have a major impact. Either continue to spout your Wiki Alphabet nonsense about notability being the criteria for deletion or just tell the truth--YOU don't see the character as major and therefore feel that he needs to be merged. Your bias is showing here--or should I say your POV--which, according to you, is NOT allowed.

So please, explain under which criteria you are getting your basis for this merge. Is it a "notability" issue as you mentioned above, or is it based on your opinion of whether or not the character had an impact on the show? It sounds to me like you're just trying to cover all your bases so that you can carry out your ridiculous merger regardless of any notability evidence that someone would provide.

Furthermore, at the top of the page on the "notability" link you provided, there is this notation: "However, it is not set in stone and should be treated with common sense and the occasional exception." I don't believe that you are using common sense, Lucy. I think that your personal bias is interfering with your decision-making skills in this area. Since the policy is widely open to interpretation, as well as not being set in stone, I think you need to take a step back and carefully consider what your motivations are for continuing to press for a merger that no one else finds necessary. Keep He was a major character in seasons 4, 5, and was notable in season 6 for forcing Jack to kill him. That had a major effect on Jack, and there are other notabilities about him. He was at the controls of the computer when stopping the meltdowns of the nuclear power plants, he was head of field ops at times, and seemed to be Erin Driscoll's chief of staff at the beginning of season 4 until Ronnie Lobell died. There are many other examples of what makes Curtis significant, but those are just a few out of the many more I could come up with.Lan Di (talk) 22:58, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

While i agree with the Keep decison, I disagree that Jack had to kill Curtis. That is when this show jumped the shark.EagleFan (talk) 22:14, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
